Another Crash in Naknek, July 1952
Remarkable in this is, like yesterday's photo, both the pilot and passenger survived. This was a Stinson Gullwing V-77, being operated for Bristol Bay Airlines. The crash occurred in July, 1952. They overshot the approach on the Naknek Airstrip and clipped the roof of the old Right Trading Post, landing in the backyard of a residence.
After both men were taken out of the wreck, it burst into flames. The building to the left is the Marchbanks' Bottling Works. The red building was the Johnson family home. Toward the right is Marchbanks' Ice Cream parlor.

This black and white photo, taken from a slightly different angle, of the same event emphasizes even more the incredible damage done to the plane in this wreck with two survivors.
