The Balaena
This is the old APA tender, Balaena, taken in 1984. She was being operated by or for Kemp Fisheries that summer.
The Balaena was the same type of vessel as the Sally N or the Deer Harbor, a 105 foot BSP. (The more common size was 86 feet.) The Balaena was, according to some sources, one of five built in San Francisco at the Martinolich Shipyards.
A couple of the others were the Victor and Jim B. The old NEFCO tender G.W. King was also one of these.
