| Another Water Delivery Method, Naknek | ||
| Dog teams were used to deliver water from Rocky Lake (north and a little east of the north/south Naknek runway) to Monsens' home. A hole chopped through the ice was used about twice a week during the winter. The dog team usually hauled two thirty gallon barrels per trip. | ||
| This photo was probably taken in the early 1940s. It was taken from the front of the Monsen house, looking east/north-east. You can see the Naknek Packing warehouse on the right side of photo (down the hill). Also, note the skis on the snow next to the dogs. The house behind the sled is the Marshall's. | ||
