Anchor in Front of Hadfields' Bar
This photo was taken around 1961. One of the Crowley Maritime barges' anchors had gotten caught in the clipper ship Moody's anchor. Divers went down and retrieved it and somehow Bernie Hadfield ended up with it.The anchor is still there in Naknek in front of Hadfield's Bar. In the background, cruising the street, is a finned 1959 Plymouth Fury, owned by a citizen of Naknek, who still lives there to this day. Also in the background (rt.) is the old Health Center and Nurse's house and Tibbetts airfield. Ted Hadfield, son of Bob and Bernie, is standing next to the anchor.
