Wooly Lousewort (Pedicularis kanei)
This plant is so named because it looks like it's covered with soft, fuzzy wool. This wool actually actually consists of tiny hairs that protect from temperature and moisture variations.
It was once believed that livestock grazing on this plant would become infested with lice. The word "wort" means "plant."
