1960 Alaska State Fair
It has been 43 years to the day when President Kennedy was assassinated in Dallas, TX. This photo was taken in happier, more innocent, times.
As an illustration of what an interesting place this world is, with many twists and turns, here is the background on this photo. It was snapped on September 3, 1960 at Palmer, Alaska, by an Associated Press photographer ... 46 years ago. (Then) Senator John F. Kennedy was campaigning in Alaska for the presidential race. The two younger boys on left, (l. to r.) are Ted Hadfield who grew up in Naknek, and Doug Hoxworth, his cousin. As a sidelight, Doug was one of the first heart-lung combination recipients, in the 70's and a long term survivor. Do a Google search for "Doug Hoxworth" for his story.
