| Beluga Blowing | ||
| Beluga whales don't send up a plume when they breathe, such as the lesser grey whales who sometimes frequent the area. Belugas' breathing makes a characteristic whooshing sound that can be heard if one is close enough. It is a very peaceful, soothing sound. They are also referred to at times as "sea canaries" because they produce many different sounds, from clicking and squealing to whistling. These are their way of communicating with other belugas. | ||
