Bluestoning Off Libbyville
The flat scow, moored off Libbyville, had wooden tanks on deck for bluestoning of the linen nets. Linen nets were used during the years before nylon nets.
Linen nets had to be soaked weekly in copper sulphate (popularly known as blue vitriol or bluestone). Bacteria would accumulate in them otherwise and they would rot if they weren't bluestoned regularly.
