Wooden Salmon Case
The canneries stopped using wooden boxes like this one in Naknek area in the late 1930s to about WWII. After that, corrugated paper boxes were used. This case is probably about 80 years old. It is now part of the sailboat display at the Lake Clark National Park and Preserve headquarters. (For background about the display, go to the June, 2006 Archives and look at the photos for June 13-17, 2006.)
