| Fire on Fort Rich |
| This photo was taken from the Settlers Bay area of Wasilla, a distance of about 15 miles away. The plume of smoke is rising from a fire on Fort Richardson. It started Tuesday afternoon and was under control by evening. It burned over 50 acres of forested land. Over 75 firefighters from federal, state and local agencies kept the fire from reaching buildings on the post. |
| The weather has been hot and dry ... prime fire conditions. The temperature in this area of Alaska has been in the 70s for two days and the humidity has dropped. |
