Pittsburg, CA, Isola delle Femmine, Sicily, and Naknek, AK

This sculpture of a fisherman stands in the Pittsburg Memorial Park, Pittsburg, California. Frank Vitale, who fished in Bristol Bay, sculpted it. The sculpture is a likeness of his father. A replica of it resides in a small fishing village, Isola delle Femmine, in Sicily where many Italian families in Pittsburg originated. Many Bristol Bay fishermen are from this area of California.
