The Matanuska Glacier, 2005
This beautiful glacier at one time, many thousands of years ago, covered the area that is now Palmer, AK. It's about 90 miles northeast of Palmer and this view can be accessed via the Glenn Highway.
Matanuska Glacier is twenty-four miles long and four miles wide. It's active and advances about a foot per day. It appears blue because of the density of the ice. It's a major tourist attraction, and understandably so. To learn more about it, you can go to http://www.matanuskaglacier.com/Facts.html
