Monsen Dogteam 1930's
The Monsen brothers met the mail planes at "Airplane Lake" in Naknek and took the mail to the post office. These collie herd dogs were previously used by the Lapps, for working reindeer.
The two lead dogs were named Amos and Andy. They were very smart. Sometimes when the brothers met the mail planes at the lake they were invited to go on the plane for a ride, possibly to Egegik and back. They would let Amos take the team and mail by himself. He would take it straight to the post office.
