Kvichak River, 1949 Season

Koggiung Diamond J boats are heading home for the closed period. This was taken abreast of Coffee Creek between Nakeen and Diamond J, just upriver from Sea Gull Flat. The photographer was crew on the Atka, receiving setnet fish, when he took this slide. These boats were gray with no yellow sails, the sunset and the age of the slide make them appear yellow. The red reflection is from the Atka. If you look closely it appears that the fishermen are washing their nets astern as they go upriver.
