Naknek River, 1947

This is Mike Shapsnikoff, in about 1947, on Red Salmon Sailboat #23, that he fished with Johnny Monsen. Mike fished sailboats in the 1930's and 1940's and was a life-long resident of the Bristol Bay area. He also worked for the National Park Service at Brooks Camp, Katmai, for many years, through the last part of the 20th century.
