"Downtown" Nakeen, 1952
This photo was taken from the water tower, which is now missing, at Nakeen Cannery. The photographer reports that when one would want to get out of the bunkhouse in the evening, you would run into mosquitoes. He would take a book and go up the water tower, sit on the catwalk and read. No mosquitoes ever went that high.
The upper right buildings in the picture are the two bunkhouses used by the machinists, carpenters, electrician, blacksmith, mess hall help, and fishermen.
More quarters are not in the picture, but were 90 degrees right of the water tower.
