Sailing Back in Time ...

This photo was taken over 65 years ago. It shows the first power scow in the Bay. It is Red Salmon's Pelican. Sailboats are being towed out for fishing.

The Pelican is still in use (to the best of anyone's knowledge) except that it has been repowered and has a newer, larger wheelhouse. The photo is taken from near the Monsen house in Naknek. That is Alaska Packers NN (now Trident) cannery across the river.
