Village of Savonoski

This photo is looking northward, toward the Naknek River. This is "new" Savonoski, which was settled by the refugees from the 1912 Mt. Katmai eruption. It was last inhabited in the early 1990s. The original Savonoski village was located about 50 miles east, in what is now Katmai National Park.
