Lots of Alaska Cotton in Naknek, 2006
This photo was taken on a foggy morning, June 2. Alaska cotton is actually a sedge grass. It grows well in moist tundra areas, along ditches, and in standing water. Its seedheads look like balls of cotton on slender sticks. Some people say when there is a lot of cotton it will be a good salmon season. We'll have to wait and see.
