Three NPS Representatives Dedicating the Sailboat - Lake Clark
In this photo you can see the tent over the focsle (fo'c'sle) of the sailboat. Fo'c'sle, (pronounced "FOK-sul") is a contraction of the word "forecastle" which is the name for various forms of construction on the forward end of the old sailing vessels. This is where the crew was sheltered.
While fishing, the mast had to be taken down to fully use the tent, but many fishermen just left the mast up. It was heavy and thus difficult to manipulate at sea. They would either wrapped the tent around the mast or modify the tent to fit.
