I Think I Can, I Think I Can, I Think I Can ...."
This pair of Tundra Swans (Cygnus columbianus) is a regular sight on a small lake near Pederson Point. The Tundra Swan is difficult to distinguish from the Trumpeter Swan, but their calls are different. The Tundra Swan nests on dry land and the Trumpeter nests on water. Both kinds are some of the largest waterfowl native to North America. Most weigh 21-30 pounds, although large males may weight over 35 pounds. Standing on the ground, adults can stand about four feet high and have wingspans of over 7 feet.
