The Fajen
This was probably taken just down river from Nakeen, when the Fajen's original owners were headed for Egegik, from Diamond J, with a load of cargo. It was possibly in the late fall of 1948. The name "Fajen" was derived from the people who purchased it and brought it into Bristol Bay. F for Fred Grindle Sr, A for Andrew Johnson, J for Jack Hately, E for Elmer Nicholson, and N for Nick Shanigan. It was purchased by Herman Herrmann a few years later and used to lighter freight around the Bay. It was also used to haul fish for Nelbro. It now rests near Igiugug, where the Kvichak River comes out of Lake Iliamna.
