Float Plane Lake, Naknek, AK
This was taken in 1946 or earlier. This is the eastern corner (looking north) of what is now called Float Plane Lake in Naknek. It was originally called Northwestern Lake when used to supply water for the Northwestern Cannery and then named Nornak Lake after Pacific American Fisheries took over the plant. It came by its name as float planes became regular users. The closest plane on floats you see is a Waco, the next is a J-3 Cub, and the farthest away is possibly a Stinson Voyager. On the hill in the background you can see a damaged Sikorsky S-39 which burned on the lake after the engine backfired.
