Dock's Eye View of the Providence
The Providence is docked at the North Pacific Processors plant at Pederson Point, AK. Here you see salmon being pumped from the holds. The fish are pumped by the use of a large vacuum system, which sucks water and fish from the holds. Water is then pumped back into the holds to keep the remaining fish in liquid so they can be pumped out. At times during this process the system may lose its vacuum and will siphon fish back from the plant into the boat. It happened two times while the photographer was observing.
