Harlequin Ducks - Take Off

These beautiful little ducks dive under water, forage and walk along the bottom of streams. They are quite buoyant and can paddle powerfully when necessary. They prefer open water with sufficient runway space for landing and for running along the water surface, such as you see in this photo, so they can become airborne. See yesterday's photo for more.
