Closer Look at the Harlequins
These little sea ducks inhabit Alaska's coasts most of the year. (On the eastern coast of North America the Harlequins are considered to be "endangered.") They get their name from the drake's colorful plumage, which is said to resemble the costumes of medieval court jesters.
