| Bear are a plantigrade animal. That means they walk or step on the sole of the foot as humans do. This photo shows his back paws to good advantage as an illustration of that. Bear have a characteristic shuffling gate and have five digits on all limbs. They can walk on their hind legs for short distances, which is an intimidating sight to behold. |
| This bear is devouring his freshly caught salmon. His face and shoulder are covered with bits of salmon. Note the seagull, seen just beyond his head, waiting for anything left behind. |
