The Bears of Brooks

This is the famous Brooks Falls, Katmai National Park. Most of the dramatic photos you see of brown bear catching salmon are taken here. The salmon must do incredible leaps to make it up over the falls to their spawning ground. Many are successful, others are lunch for bears. Note the opportunistic seagull, sitting on the rock, waiting for scraps.
