King Salmon

No matter how many fish come in over the roller, it's always a thrill to see a king salmon. The fish in this photo weighed approximately 15 pounds. The king salmon is also known as the Chinook salmon or Oncorhynchus tshawytscha. It is the largest of the five Pacific salmon species. Some mature kings may grow to be 100 pounds or more, although the average weigh is 22 pounds.
