Volcano in the Morning
Occasionally some of the volcanoes put on a show for us, venting steam and sometimes a little smoke. This photo was taken a few miles west of King Salmon, about 70 miles from the mountain. The mountain is most likely Mount Martin. The photo was taken through a 32X spotting scope. The unusual looking skyline is caused by the varying temperature layers of air over Naknek Lake. For more information on Mount Martin, go to Alaska Volcano Observatory.
