Entering Naknek River Crossing

The vehicle is entering the crossing from the Savonoski (south) side of the river. The river ice goes up and down with the tides, sometimes by 20 feet. The most difficult area of the crossing is the transition area from the fast (frozen to the bottom) shore ice to the floating portion. That often changes from tide to tide.
