| Lining Up for the Drive |
| This is the first day anyone has driven their vehicle across the frozen Naknek River this winter. The picture is taken from the old village of Savonoski. The thickness of the ice is reported to be around 19 to 24 inches. This ice developed in the past two weeks, during a very cold spell, with temperatures reaching as low as minus 37 degrees F. |
