| North America's Highest Mountain, Mt. McKinley (aka Denali) |
| Denali (Mt. McKinley) is 20,320 feet (6,194m) above sea level and the highest point in North America. It's located between Anchorage and Fairbanks in Alaska, (at latitude 63 degrees north). |
| The north peak was first climbed in 1910 by climbers who planted a 6 by 12 foot American flag on a 14 foot spruce pole. In 1913, the south peak was first climbed by a party lead by Hudson Stuck, an American missionary and explorer. |
| Denali is the crown jewel of the Denali National Park & Preserve, which is covers more than 6 million acres. |
