Car Wash - Alaska Style

These two moose are enjoying a salty snack in the form of a Saturn. The roads and streets in the Mat-Su Valley have been icy. To remedy the dangerous, slippery surfaces are salted by road crews. Moose, like many animals, enjoy salt and will lick the salty slush which dries on cars.

After receiving these photos, we noticed many, many other vehicles in the Mat-Su area with this familiar pattern on the sides, including service vans, trucks and cars. It appears that the moose begin with the area around the rear tires and then branch out to other parts of the vehicle. Moose-licked cars are everywhere!
