| There is a 32 foot limit on the length of commercial gill-netters in Bristol Bay. The reason for the law was to keep the size of the boats affordable for everyone. |
| For many years, however, this was not enforced. Then, about a dozen years ago, the Alaska Department of Fish and Game decided to strictly enforce the law. They threatening severe fines for exceeding the length limit. What could you do if you had a longer boat? The results were as you can see ... drastic measures in many cases. The letter of the law was followed to the detriment of the lines of the boat. |
