Libbyville, About 1953

Yesterday's photo showed a very current photo of Libbyville. The photo above travels back in time to 1953, showing Libbyville in better days.

Note the sailboats soaking on the pond. After being out of the water for several months, the boats were soaked so the planks would swell. This tightened up the seams between the planks, which allowed the boats to be watertight when launched for fishing.
