| Smoke in Naknek |
| This photo was taken around noon, on August 23rd, from near the Delta Western dock. The smoke of multiple fires in the Alaskan interior caused visibility to be less than a half mile. It was difficult to see across the Naknek River to the south bank. As of the middle of August, there were more than a hundred fires burning across the state. Air quality warnings were being issued in many places and conditions were described as ranging from “very unhealthy” to “hazardous.” |
