Just the Dorsal Fin
This was taken in the Naknek River, Monday, August 22nd. Killer whales (Orcinus orca) do visit the Naknek River, but not frequently (years go by between sightings). There were about five whales in this particular pod. Killer whales are the largest member of the dolphin family. They have the "killer" name due to their attacking and eating other whales and seals. The adults grow to over 20 feet in length and can weight up to ten tons.
