Widgeons on the Run
A widgeon is a dabbling duck who forages for food by skimming the water’s surface or by doing a headstand with its head down and its tail pointed up. This family of widgeons was photographed on the Northwest Arm, Naknek Lake.
They are trying to run on the top of the water and appear to be panicking because it's their molting season and they can't fly. The entire Northwest Arm had bird feathers everywhere.
