Steller's Jays Hold Loud Meeting at a Cherry Tree
Spring must be near in Alaska. The crocuses are blooming in Anchorage and the jays are congregating.
The Steller's jay's scientific name is Cyanocitta stelleri and they are members of the jay, magpie and crow family. According to the Field Guide to Birds of North America a group of jays can be referred to as "a band of jays," "a cast of jays," "a party of jays," or a "scold of jays."
